Poldi Pezzoli Museum is located in via Manzoni 12, in the heart of Milan, a few steps from the Duomo, the luxury shopping streets, the Sempione Park, as well as the "Secondo Pensiero" B & B.
It is part of the "Case Museo" circuit in Milan. The collection of the art works was born as a private collection of the Poldi Pezzoli family, especially of Giangiacomo Poldi Pezzoli and even before of his mother, Rosa Trivulzio.
The Artistic Foundation was established in 1881 with the opening of the Museum.
The collection was conceived, according to the eclectic style of the time, as a collection of art from different centuries, immediately looking like a modern art gallery instead of a private collection intended for personal use.
The Museum holds almost six thousand objects including paintings and decorative arts, one of the richest art collections in Europe.
Among the more than three hundred paintings, dating back to the 14th and 18th centuries, the masterpieces of Sandro Botticelli, Piero della Francesca, Francesco Hayez, Pollaiolo, Giovanni Bellini and Andrea Mantegna, stand out.
