Very close to your luxury hotel in Milan, in the heart of the city, 14 Mozart road, there is Villa Necchi Campiglio. Almost hidden, it is a deco style jewel, famous and appreciated both in Milan and outside. It dates back to the 1930s and is one of the most beautiful museum-houses in Milan: Villa Necchi Campiglio preserves most of the original furnishings and, immersed in the rooms rendered silent by the splendid garden surrounding the villa, several works from the collection of Claudia Gian Ferrari and of that donated by Alighiero and Emilietta De 'Micheli.
The atmosphere of Villa Necchi Campiglio gives the feeling of being in a place still in time. The building is spread over four floors plus the attic, and is an excellent example of rationalist architecture. In different times of the day you can book a guided tour conducted by art historians ready to show visitors the comfort and security that characterized the lifestyle of the bourgeoisie of the time, as well as numerous paintings and decorative arts of the eighteenth century.
It is impossible not to be impressed by the modernity of Villa Necchi Campiglio: the tennis court, the heated swimming pool and the internal services, eighty years after its construction, are an aesthetically and functionally stunning architectural example.
Built between 1932 and 1935 by Pietro Portaluppi for the family of Angelo Campiglio and Gigina Necchi, members of Lombardy industrial upper bourgeoisie, the villa was donated to the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), which transformed it into a house-museum, opening it to the public.
At the end of the visit, with a little walk, you will return to your luxury b & b.
